Responsibilities Oversee design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of MV systems (1-35 kV), including switchgear, transformers, cables, and protection relays Review and approve single-line diagrams, protection coordination studies, short-circuit analyses, and arc flash assessments Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for MV equipment failures, outages, and power quality issues Develop and manage long-term asset health programs including condition-based monitoring and relay calibration schedules Drive capital planning for MV asset renewal based on age, condition assessments, and reliability data Analyze system reliability metrics (SAIDI, SAIFI, MAIFI) and implement corrective strategies to reduce unplanned outages Recruit, supervise, mentor, and develop a team of MV engineers, technicians, and field electricians Sales, estimating, and production management of jobs that meet or exceed margin standards Build and maintain long-term customer relationships while pursuing new business development Enforce
NFPA 70E / OSHA
compliance for all energized MV work, including arc flash PPE and LOTO procedures Ensure MV systems and documentation remain compliant with applicable regulations, utility interconnection agreements, and internal safety policies Maintain up to date as-built drawings, equipment records, test reports, and maintenance logs Requirements Protection coordination and relay settings (SEL, GE, ABB platforms) Short-circuit, load flow, and arc flash studies (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower) Transformer specification, testing, and maintenance (oil analysis, sweep frequency response) Knowledge of
IEEE C57/C37, ANSI/NEMA, NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA
1910.269, and NESC standards Proficiency in reading single-line diagrams, protection schematics, and equipment drawings Proven people management, performance management, and team development skills Strong budgeting, labor tracking, scheduling, and estimating abilities Excellent written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail Texas Journeyman License preferred
