Job Title:
Engineering Branch Manager Job Description The Engineering Branch Manager leads the engineering operations for a branch supporting a Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program yard, overseeing design activities, guiding engineering teams, and providing strategic leadership for contingent hires and ongoing projects. Responsibilities + Lead and manage the engineering branch supporting the LCS program yard, ensuring alignment with project goals and operational requirements. + Oversee ship-related engineering and design activities, ensuring technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with relevant standards. + Provide clear leadership and direction to engineering staff, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance. + Plan and coordinate contingent hires to support project demands, ensuring appropriate skills and capacity are available when needed. + Monitor branch performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective solutions to optimize engineering processes. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the yard to ensure seamless integration of engineering work with overall program activities. + Support the development and implementation of engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives within the branch. Essential Skills + Proven experience in ship-related engineering, with a strong understanding of ship systems and design considerations. + Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and guide engineering teams in a dynamic environment. + Hands-on experience in engineering design, including the ability to review and interpret technical drawings and specifications. + Ability to manage contingent hires and adapt staffing levels to meet evolving project needs. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Prior experience working in a shipyard or marine engineering environment. + Background in managing engineering operations for complex defense or maritime programs. + Experience implementing engineering best practices and process improvements. + Ability to balance strategic leadership with day-to-day operational oversight. Work Environment This role operates within a ship-focused engineering environment, closely connected to an LCS program yard. The Engineering Branch Manager works with engineering teams, project staff, and yard personnel in a setting that combines office-based coordination with direct engagement in ship-related activities. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $135000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
