Job Description

A growing multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking a Plumbing Designer to join its Building Systems team. This position is ideal for a design professional with 5-10 years of experience within MEP consulting who enjoys working on a diverse range of projects and collaborating with architects, engineers, owners, and contractors throughout the design and construction process. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and coordination of plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial, healthcare, education, municipal, hospitality, mixed-use, residential, and industrial projects. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects while continuing to develop technical and project management skills. Responsibilities Design plumbing systems for a variety of building types from schematic design through construction administration. Prepare construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation. Design domestic water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, natural gas, and specialty plumbing systems. Assist with the design and coordination of fire protection systems as required. Perform plumbing fixture counts, pipe sizing calculations, and code reviews. Develop and maintain Revit models and construction documents. Coordinate designs with mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and architectural project team members. Conduct field investigations, site visits, and support construction administration efforts. Participate in client meetings and project coordination discussions. Maintain compliance with applicable plumbing codes, building codes, and industry standards. Support and mentor junior designers as needed. Qualifications 5-10 years of experience within an MEP engineering consulting environment. Experience designing plumbing systems for commercial and institutional building projects. Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD. Strong understanding of plumbing design principles, building systems, and applicable codes. Experience preparing construction documents and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field. CPD (Certified Plumbing Designer) certification or pursuit of professional certification. Experience with healthcare, educational, municipal, hospitality, industrial, or mixed-use projects. Familiarity with fire protection system coordination and design standards. Experience mentoring junior staff and supporting project delivery efforts.
