POSITION SUMMARY
​​ ​​ The Supplier Quality Engineer develops, evaluates and improves the Vertiv product supplier base through quality system and product process audits. The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible to maintain working relationships with suppliers to ensure the highest quality possible of purchased components / materials with a focus on continuous improvement. The Supplier Quality Engineer establishes quality targets and goals to include quality cost reduction, warranty reduction and overall supplier rating.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support determining the data driven top customer field issues list, verify an owner is assigned and status is reported weekly. ​Lead cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions through problem solving process. Evaluate completed corrective actions and ensure effectiveness of actions. Recommend appropriate remedial activities. ​Visit customers to proactively see installations and document improvement needs. Visit customers to understand the nature of the issue and get definite corrective action initiated in the organization. ​Request and approve PPAP documents from suppliers ​Evaluate potential new suppliers by conducting on-site audits and scoring of Quality Management System ​Present reports to organization regarding Quality performance. Present status updates on various quality initiatives to business management. ​Develop 8D and Customer reports on reported issues. Communicate internally and externally on outcomes of investigations. Work with internal teams, including Engineering, Service, Manufacturing/Operations, Sales, Offering Management, and Supplier Quality to resolve quality issues impacting customers. ​Execute Quality Engineering responsibilities on New Product Development projects, participating on New Product Development Process (NPDP) teams, tracking issues, and ensuring effective resolution. Ensure risk management plans are in place when issues are identified. ​Create analytic reporting around warranty data for America's LOB using Use Excel, SQL, and Power BI. ​Support Warranty administration as needed. ​Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Job Qualifications:
​​ ​ ​ Bachelor's degree required with 3-5 years of equivalent experience; or ASQ certification with 3-5 years of equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
​​​​​​ Solid experience in a quality engineering environment. ​Previous data analytics and reporting experience. ​Data entry proficiency. ​Ability to analyze current warranty claims and create improvement strategies.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
​​ ​ ​​​ Bachelor's degree required with equivalent experience; or ASQ certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Medium Lifting (30 Ibs. - 45 Ibs.) to Heavy Lifting (over 50 Ibs.) Frequent Standing Periodic kneeling / crawling / stooping Periodic climbing (stairs, ladders)

Noise Level (Standard manufacturing environment; hearing protection required in fabrication shop) Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, safety shoes, gloves, eyewear, etc.) Primarily office work Infrequent work outdoors at suppliers (no effective protection from weather)
