We're looking to expand our engineering team with a contract-based Engineering Specialist who can bring deep technical expertise to our Chicago operations. - testing protocols What you would do Typical responsibilities could include: Contributing to the design and optimization of mechanical, electrical or controls systems using CAD tools and industry-standard methodologies Conducting and supporting design reviews, testing protocols and performance validation Collaborating with manufacturing and field teams to translate design intent into production-ready systems Supporting system integration across mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines Documenting design specifications, test results and technical recommendations Advising on design standards, manufacturing feasibility and field application requirements Contributing to continuous improvement of design processes and technical standards What you could bring Most roles of this type require the following: Must-have 10-15 years of hands-on engineering experience in mechanical, electrical or controls disciplines Proficiency with CAD software and design tools Demonstrated experience in manufacturing and field application environments Strong knowledge of design standards, testing protocols and system integration Ability to work collaboratively across technical and manufacturing teams Authorization to work in the United States Nice-to-have Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification Experience with specific industry standards (ISO, ASME, IEC or equivalent) Background in product design lifecycle and design validation Leadership or mentoring experience within technical teams What roles of this type could offer Most roles of this type offer the following, dependent on the industry and seniority of the role: The opportunity to apply deep technical expertise on meaningful engineering projects Exposure to cross-functional collaboration and system-level problem solving Potential involvement in design innovation and continuous process improvement Flexibility and autonomy in a contract-based engagement based at our Chicago location Professional growth through engagement with complex technical challenges About Specialist Staffing Group We are a trusted staffing partner specializing in connecting skilled professionals with opportunities where their expertise makes an immediate impact.
