Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking a senior ‑level Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing readiness, supplier engagement, and production scale‑up for complex mechanical and electromechanical systems. This role sits at the intersection of design and manufacturing and plays a critical part in ensuring products launch on time, at scale, and with high quality. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in supplier management, new product introduction (NPI), GD&T, and design for manufacturability in fast‑paced, volume manufacturing environments.
Description:
Actively support and foster a culture of inclusion Provide Design for X (DFM/DFA/DFT) guidance on mechanical and electromechanical designs Guide best practices for manufacturing tolerances using GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Launch tooling on accelerated schedules while assessing and mitigating project risk Review and evaluate external production processes to identify manufacturing risk and implement mitigation plans Qualify production processes using dimensional data, control plans, and PFMEAs Drive internal and external DFMEA and PFMEA reviews Solve complex technical problems across multiple manufacturing commodities Manage supplier quality issues, including containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions Propose design changes to improve product manufacturability and testability Evaluate and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), including electrical ECOs Investigate supplier, production, and field failures to determine root cause and resolution Mentor junior engineers and influence cross‑functional partners without direct authority
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in manufacturing/mechanical engineering or equivalent applied industry experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience) Experience with prototyping and implementation Manufacturing process qualification and validation Mechanical systems design and analysis
DFMEA / PFMEA
facilitation Root cause analysis using dimensional data and statistical methods Experience approving and managing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) Exposure to high‑mix and/or high‑volume manufacturing environments Ability to mentor, influence, and collaborate across functions without authority
Preferred:
Proficiency in GD&T using
ASME Y14.5
standards or equivalent. Strong background in manufacturing engineering, with exposure to program/project coordination. Experience designing complex mechanical or electromechanical products for high‑volume production.
Additional Information:
4+ month contract opportunity. 3 openings available.
Pay Rate:
$60-$70/hr based on experience. Benefits offered. May have some travel. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
