About Us Iron Oaks is a premier architectural millwork and fabrication firm dedicated to the execution of bespoke commercial and residential commissions. In collaboration with architects, general contractors, and designers, we deliver sophisticated interior environments across the corporate, hospitality, and luxury residential sectors. Our manufacturing capabilities integrate advanced CNC-driven production with traditional craftsmanship to ensure technical precision and aesthetic excellence. Position Overview The Millwork Design Engineer is tasked with the development of comprehensive production documentation, the engineering of specialized millwork solutions, and interdepartmental coordination. This position necessitates an advanced technical understanding of architectural woodworking, material properties, specialized hardware, joinery techniques, and industrial fabrication methodologies. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional proficiency in technical design, professional communication, and complex problem-solving. Responsibilities
  • Create detailed fabrication drawings and cut lists based on the design teams approved shop drawings
  • Engineer millwork assemblies for durability, manufacturability, and efficient production
  • Coordinate with designers, project managers, and production teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate with outside vendors including metal and glass, stone, etc.
  • Translate shop drawings into engineered CNC/Beam Saw-ready files
  • Apply AWI and ANSI standards where applicable
  • Collaborate to solve complex installation or production challenges
  • Support and collaborate with design about details, submittals, and client approval processes
  • Mentor junior design and drafting staff, providing technical guidance and design reviews to ensure quality standards.
  • Lead value engineering efforts to identify cost-saving opportunities and production efficiencies without compromising design integrity.
  • Drive proactive problem-solving for complex, large-scale projects, coordinating directly with on-site teams to resolve field discrepancies. Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in millwork engineering, architectural casework, or a related manufacturing industry
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Fusion 360 or Rhino, CAM software, and Microvellum
  • Strong understanding of woodworking construction methods, veneers, laminates, hardware, and finishes
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
  • Familiarity with shop production workflow and CNC-based manufacturing
  • Mechanical and spatial problem-solving ability
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines Preferred Traits
  • Experience with AWI standards
  • Manufacturing plant exposure
  • Strong communication skills; speaks fluent English
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with shop machinery and assembly of tooling including but not limited to CNC and Beamsaw operations
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
