Project Engineer-Automotive manufacturing SortingTab Murfreesboro, TN Job Details Full-time $120,000 - $130,000 a year 12 hours ago Benefits Relocation assistance Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Life insurance Qualifications Project engineering Continuous improvement Process engineering Mechanical troubleshooting Certified Quality Engineer Automotive manufacturing plant experience Full Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Project Engineer to support capital projects, manufacturing process improvements, equipment design, and production optimization initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role will work closely with operations, tooling, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve plant performance, increase efficiencies, reduce scrap, and support new manufacturing processes and equipment installations. The successful candidate will bring strong mechanical aptitude, project engineering experience, and hands-on manufacturing knowledge with exposure to automation, tooling, hydraulics, pneumatics, injection molding, die casting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Do:
Lead capital improvement projects including RFQs, vendor coordination, budgeting, scheduling, installation, and commissioning activities Design and implement modifications to production machinery, tooling, and manufacturing processes Support installation, testing, debugging, and startup of new equipment and production systems Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, tooling, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems Support die casting and injection molding operations including tooling and process troubleshooting Develop mechanical designs and technical drawings using CAD systems Perform engineering calculations to support design and manufacturing improvements Assist with preventative maintenance procedures, machine setup, operator training, and work instructions Conduct dimensional inspections and prototype evaluations to verify engineering changes and designs Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, scrap reduction, and operational performance Create and maintain PFMEA, DFMEA, APQP, and Control Plan documentation Work closely with vendors, suppliers, operations, maintenance, and production teams to support plant objectives
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline 3-5+ years of engineering and project experience within a manufacturing environment Automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on engineering background Experience with injection molding and/or die casting processes Exposure to hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, HMIs, compressed air systems, and manufacturing automation Experience using CAD systems and Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity with APQP, PFMEA/DFMEA, Control Plans, TS16949, and
ISO14001
systems Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Ability to work hands-on within a manufacturing plant environment
Pay:
$120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
