Laminating, Slitting & Sheeting Location:
Fairfield, NJ 07004
Schedule:
Full-time with overtime opportunities; All Shifts Available A Day in the Life You clock in at our Fairfield manufacturing facility and review the day's work orders. After a quick safety check, you and your assigned helper stage materials and prepare a laminator, sheeter, or slitter for the first run. Throughout the shift, you monitor controls, watch web paths, verify specifications, and make small, approved adjustments to keep production running smoothly. You continually scan for surface defects, measure output against job requirements, and document production counts, material usage, and any downtime. If something sounds off or a roll isn't tracking correctly, you stop the machine and alert a supervisor or maintenance right away. Between jobs, you handle basic cleaning and operator-level care so the next run starts efficiently. You keep your area organized, communicate clearly with helpers and teammates, and support the team by taking overtime when it's available. What You'll Handle Start up, run, monitor, and shut down laminators, sheeters, slitters, and related equipment with a focus on safety. Work from work orders and standard procedures to meet production requirements. Track equipment performance during runs and make routine adjustments within guidelines. Partner closely with your assigned helper to move materials efficiently—large lines are not run alone. Inspect in-process materials and finished goods for visible defects and confirm they meet job specs. Record production data, including quantities, materials, and downtime. Stay alert for unusual sounds, motion, or conditions; stop machines and report issues promptly. Perform routine cleaning and basic operator maintenance. Maintain housekeeping and follow all machine guarding, PPE expectations, and safety rules. Collaborate with helpers, supervisors, quality, maintenance, and fellow operators. Support production needs by working overtime when available. Required Qualifications Comfort operating or working around large production/industrial equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong focus on safety, quality, and detail. Reliable attendance and on-time performance. Capacity to stay attentive while monitoring running equipment. Team-oriented communication skills. Willingness to learn laminating, sheeting, and slitting operations. Openness to overtime when available or required. High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Experience in machine operation, production, manufacturing, or heavy equipment. Exposure to laminators, sheeters, slitters, printing, converting, or roll-fed machinery. Mechanical aptitude and an eye for abnormal machine behavior. Comfort with work orders, quality checks, and manufacturing documentation. Training & Onboarding We provide hands-on training covering: Laminators, sheeters, slitters, and related production systems Machine controls and standard operating procedures Safe operating practices Product and material specifications Basic quality inspection techniques Production documentation and recordkeeping Communication and teamwork with assigned helpers No prior experience on Unifoil's specific equipment is required—if you're reliable, mechanically aware, and ready to learn, you'll fit right in. Physical & Work Environment Active manufacturing setting around large, moving equipment. Standing and walking for extended periods. Regular bending, reaching, and material-handling tasks. Use of required personal protective equipment. Working around typical manufacturing noise and motion. Overtime based on production needs and availability.
