Job Summary Our client is seeking a Production Technician ASU who is responsible for operating a cryogenic Air Separation Unit (ASU). In this role, you will monitor plant operations using
SCADA/HMI/PLC
systems, troubleshoot and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards. Job Description Monitors and maintains the safe operation of an Air Separation Facility that produces cryogenic products Controls flow, purities, pressures, and process using SCADA, HMI, and PLC systems Works with management to maximize production and efficiency by adjusting flows and production rates to meet customer needs Reads and interprets technical drawings and manuals Performs quality assurance functions associated with products to maintain quality standards Prepares and maintains accurate records in accordance with all safety, quality, regulatory, and production requirements, including plant readings, plant maintenance, and instrument calibrations Identifies potential problems from collected data Performs complex plant functions, including DERIME and warm plant start-ups Performs preventive and corrective maintenance throughout the plant, including compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, electrical equipment, and other plant equipment Troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates process and system problems to restore efficient operations, including PLC, DCS, and other computer interface stations, control valves, pneumatic and electronic control equipment, and instrumentation Takes initiative to improve facility operations, reliability, and costs without direction Performs administrative functions, including requisitioning, purchasing, production accounting, payroll recordkeeping, purchase order closure, receiving, and time entry Safety and Regulatory Compliance Requires 100% compliance with all Airgas safety policy and procedures, and cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) training and techniques to prevent lost time or serious injury to others Maintain a high degree of safety by employing safe work habits Promote and develop safe work behaviors using existing policies and procedures and an emphasis on safety behavior management techniques Assist with safety incident investigations, including near misses, using root cause analysis leading to recommended corrective actions to eliminate recurrences Ensures applicable regulatory (OSHA, EPA, DHS) requirements are met, and applicable training and recordkeeping is performed to meet departmental and location requirements Quality / Technical Support Performs maintenance of instrumentation, electrical systems, compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, and other plant equipment Complies with maintenance of environmental, safety, quality assurance, and FDA compliance systems and programs, including spare parts, preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance Skills Required 2 years of technical college education or military technical experience 2 or more years of experience operating an Air Separation Plant or in a related industrial environment Critical thinking skills with the ability to work independently to troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve issues with process and plant equipment Ability to use sound judgment to recognize plant process problems, interpret malfunctions, and make appropriate decisions Ability to use common hand tools and test equipment to repair and replace mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment
Water Treatment:
Understanding of water treatment principles and equipment is a plus
Refrigeration:
A basic understanding of refrigeration systems is a plus
Air Separation:
A basic understanding of air separation and associated technologies is a plus Requires continuous mental and visual attention to operate equipment, make repairs, and adjustments Education/Training/Certifications High School Diploma or GED Additional Requirements Must be able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check
Work Schedule:
12-hour shifts, 48 hours per week Must be able to work overtime and off shifts when requested Must be able to share on-call responsibilities to facilitate uninterrupted plant operation Must have the ability to work alone, weekends, and holidays Pay Rate/Salary $17.20 - 23.00/hr.
