Apply Electrical Superintendent Location North East Job Type Permanent Salary Competitive depending on experience plus benefits This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable ship owner based on the Humber. This is an office based role so you must live within a 1 hour commute of the office. As Electrical Superintendent you will provide effective and efficient Management of Marine Electrical Resources to carry out all electrical engineering functions within the Business and provide support to the Vessel Superintendents, Technical Manager and Marine Manager. Responsibilities Assists to ensure Marine/Safety/Engineering Department databases are in date and maintained. Assists with preparation of docking specification, reports as well as maintenance. Supervision of electrical work and testing during surveys, dockings, overhauls and other repairs and timely communication with operational management on emergent issues affecting scope and cost of repair tasks. Consult with Technical Manager and Marine Manager to plan maintenance schedules, labour requirements and work programs and ensure the regular maintenance of plant and equipment. Provide Marine Electrical Engineering technical advice to other departments within the business Liaise with Port authorities, Consultants, Shipyards, Contractors and Suppliers as required. On a daily basis review and update HELM status of assigned vessels, for the relevant electrical tasks and defects. Attend scheduled Technical meetings in the office and contribute towards system and process reviews, to drive continuous improvement. Ensuring that electrical problems raised on-board the vessels in the fleet are promptly investigated and rectified in a safe and consistent manner. Verifying the vessels are compliant with relevant electrical legislation and requirements. With the ship's engineer, partly responsible for the maintenance and updating of tasks on the ships HELM maintenance systems. Requirements Minimum 2 years' experience in capacity of Ship's electrician or ETO (essential) Experience in shipbuilding/ship repair industry (desirable) Thorough understanding of Diesel engines & propulsion systems control and monitoring systems. Competent IT skills with a good understanding of Excel. Thorough knowledge and experience of Risk Assessments, safe working practices, permit to work systems and lock-out, tag-out processes, and willing to develop and assist with the implementation of those systems, if needed.
