Why ESiESi's Transportation group analyzes automotive, rail, aviation, marine, and commercial vehicle systems to evaluate performance, failure, and safety. Combining engineering disciplines with advanced modeling and reconstruction tools, the team supports investigations and proactive design efforts that improve safety and decision-making.

Key ResponsibilitiesAssists with field investigations and site inspections under the supervision of experience consultants.

Performs engineering research, data collection, and analysis to support ongoing projects.

Assists in preparation of technical reports and documents.

Participates in laboratory testing and analysis activities.

Supports consultants in organizing and analyzing evidence and technical data.

Attend client meetings and internal technical reviews as appropriate.

Perform other duties as assigned in support to the multidisciplinary consulting team.

Internships with ESi are expected to be full-time, 40-hours per week, from Monday to Friday (Business hours are from 8am-5pm).If you are also enrolled in college - we require that you take no more than 2 classes during your employment semester with ESi and are able to work a minimum of 32 hours per week within business hours.

QualificationsEducation / Certifications / LicensesMajoring in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Materials Science, Civil/Structural Engineering.3.30 GPA or higher, preferred.

ExperienceNo prior professional experience required; laboratory, research, or internship experience a plus.

Demonstrated interest in forensic engineering, failure analysis, or litigation support.

Other Technical & Non-Technical SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with engineering analysis or CAD software a plus.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take initiative on assigned tasks.

Must have a valid driver's license and be available to travel for field work.

Physical DemandsThis role requires frequently sitting or standing for extended periods of time and occasionally lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds, with infrequent lifting up to 75 pounds. The work regularly requires bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and maintaining balance. This position frequently requires handling and operating specialized tools and equipment and working in a variety of physical positions, including occasionally accessing tight or confined spaces. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Work EnvironmentWork is performed in both office and field environments, including active construction sites, industrial settings, and damaged or compromised structures.
