Lecturer, Welding ? School of Technology - Steubenville (Term)

Teaches certificate and associate degree courses in welding for the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program in the School of Computer Science, Information, & Engineering Technology. Teaches courses in welding with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW); Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/Mig); Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW); Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/Tig); OSHA Safety; blueprint creation and reading; or introductory or foundational-level knowledge/skills in robotic welding / numerically controlled cutting. Faculty members are expected to maintain a consistent, in-person presence on location throughout the standard workweek. This includes being available on-site each day to support students, collaborate with colleagues, and participate fully in the academic life of the institution. Regular on-site engagement during normal business hours is an essential component of this role. Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule:

Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.

Steubenville Required Certifications, Training, and/or

Licensures:

American Welding Society (AWS) certifications in one or more welding processes. Sponsorship and/or

Work Authorization Status:

This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least a high school diploma or GED; an AWS or similar certification in one or more welding processes; at least five years of practical welding experience in one or more of the following categories: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW); Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/Mig); Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW); Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/Tig); OSHA Safety; blueprint creation and reading; or introductory or foundational-level knowledge/skills in robotic welding / numerically controlled cutting; and familiarity with AWS codes and safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate or bachelor's degree in welding. Experience with basic robotic welding and automated 2D cutting. Certified Welding Educator (CWE) credentials. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credentials. National Coalition of Certification Centers' NC3 Train-the-Trainer certification. Teaching experience and classroom management skills.
