This position will coordinate prototype procurement, supplier activities, mechanical testing, inspection, validation, and First Article Inspection (FAI) while working closely with Design Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and external suppliers. The ideal candidate is a Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience in prototype development, testing, validation, inspection, and project coordination. Key Responsibilities Coordinate prototype procurement , including RFQs, supplier communication, purchase requests, and sample tracking. Work directly with suppliers to ensure prototype components meet project requirements and delivery timelines. Coordinate DVP, validation, and mechanical testing activities. Support prototype testing, troubleshooting, data collection, and test reporting. Own First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and associated documentation. Perform mechanical inspections using metrology and precision measurement equipment . Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and dimensional requirements. Maintain engineering databases, project documentation, and testing records. Track project deliverables and communicate status, risks, and potential delays. Collaborate with Design Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Testing, and suppliers. Support troubleshooting and resolution of prototype and testing issues. Ensure prototype, inspection, and validation activities remain aligned with project schedules. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering . 2-5+ years of experience in project engineering, test engineering, validation, quality, prototype engineering, or product development. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on laboratory or mechanical testing experience. Experience with mechanical prototype testing, DVP/DVP&R, validation, and troubleshooting . Experience owning or supporting FAI / First Article Inspection . Proficiency with metrology and measurement equipment , including calipers, micrometers, gauges, or similar tools. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications . CAD literacy. Strong project coordination and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working directly with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience in automotive, powersports, aerospace, or mechanical product development . Experience with belt-drive systems, CVTs, drivetrains, power transmission, or rotating mechanical components . Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection . Experience coordinating prototype builds and supplier deliverables. Experience with engineering databases, test documentation, and technical reporting.
