Precision X-ray is the leading provider of safe, high-output X-ray irradiators used in modern translational research. It's our mission to develop X-ray systems continually that help researchers globally understand radiation induced effects in the sciences of molecular biology and cancer research. Summary of Position Precision X-Ray is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the R D team and assume broad mechanical design and project management responsibilities across our product portfolio which includes biological irradiators, scientific imaging, and related accessories for preclinical cancer research. Duties include a broad range of mechanical design with a focus upon design for manufacturing, design for service, and value engineering. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mechanical, electromechanical, enclosure, and related subsystem/component design for Precision's scientific and industrial X-ray systems.
  • Develops design requirements and specifications for product development in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Cost effective mechanical design solutions for manufacturability and serviceability.
  • Develops, delivers, and manages assigned projects and tasks.
  • Procures and manages suppliers and contractors.
  • Designs, reviews, and manages systems and subsystems tests for reliability, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborates effectively with a technical cross-discipline team to develop innovative system solutions.
  • Performs all other duties as required to meet the company's goals and objectives. Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Demonstrated success with mechanical and electro-mechanical devices with a track record of developing capital products and processes for new products.
  • Design, verification, and validation of precision mechanisms, electromechanical systems, enclosures, and injection molded plastics.
  • Design control, risk management, PDM, PLM experience in an ISO 9000 or equivalent quality system environment (e.g., ISO 13485).
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, 3D printing, quality control, and other techniques for optimizing product costs.
  • Knowledge and extensive experience in Project Management.
  • Extensive experience with motors, motor control, sensors (e.g., Hall effect, encoders, load cells).
  • Extensive user experience with mechanical CAD, FEA, and simulation tools (e.g., Solidworks).
  • Extensive design and test experience for reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Effective communication skills with superiors, peers and subordinates.
  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years professional experience.
  • Strong background in 3D modeling with a minimum of 2 years' experience (Solid Works preferred).
  • Medical device experience preferred.
  • Six Sigma/Lean certified preferred.
