Summary:
This role will support engineering design and development activities.Responsibilities:
Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation. Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance. Create part specification requirements and BOM. Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers. Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection. Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes. Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs Travel to client sites required.Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2-5 years relevant industry experience or Bachelor's degree and 4+ years relevant industry experience or Associate's degree and 5+ years Automotive Plastic design experience. Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing. Knowledge and working experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), DFM (Design for Manufacturing) Experience using both Catia V5/V6 to create 3-D models and 2D drawings is required. The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical guidance to support Senior Management Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling Exposure to CAE preferred.
