Job Description

Position Summary:
Provide hands-on leadership for the engineering team to develop new designs and concepts to meet our customers' requirements. This role requires interaction with all other departments and personnel to ensure an even flow of information to maintain minimum time schedules. Lead the project engineer(s) in the design, specifications, and standardization of approved product lines, drawing reproduction, distribution, prints and other pertinent criteria essential to product manufacturing. Monitor new product specifications and designs, styling, layout, and details to ensure safety, code compliance, accuracy, and timely production.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, support, and experience to the engineering department team to assist them in the accomplishment of their account goals.
- Develop a collaborative work environment within the Engineering Team and other departments and groups to guarantee consistent delivery of all necessary engineering aspects to both internal and external customers.
- Collaborate with engineers and engineering groups at other Everbrite facilities. It is paramount that we adhere to and practice company-wide engineering standards.
- Oversee performance of team members; establish goals, provide coaching for improvement, and recommend disciplinary action to HR Manager when necessary.
- Provide regular feedback on project management and performance to team members well in advance of the final regular performance review, relative to their established goals. The strategy should be to coach and facilitate each team member to a successful annual performance review.
- Represent the department at meetings and within project teams.
- Responsible for the timely completion of assignments relating to Everbrite customers.
- Evaluate and develop mechanical design, product descriptions, bills of materials and specifications to provide the information needed to complete projects with the highest value, in a top-quality, timely manner which accounts for all liability considerations.
- Identify possible failures in a design and/or manufacturing processes using sound engineering practices such as FEA (FMEA), PFMEA, prototyping and/or testing.
- Evaluate and plan assignments to develop practical solutions to the mechanical and electrical elements of the product as well as the best aesthetic of the product. Apply the system and principles of design for manufacturing, assembly, and installation (DFMAI) to improve a design's ability to reach the lowest sustainable cost.
- Determine if ECR requests are valid and assign tasks to Engineers as needed.
- Oversee the drafting of drawings and creation of key product specifications to meet customer expectations.
- Responsible for the review and approval of all drawings and bills of materials after completion by the project engineer(s).
- Prepare and distribute reports, drawings, letters, and other communications as required in oral, written, or electronic form.
- Train engineering personnel to properly execute the engineering design and manufacturing processes utilizing SoildWorks, PDM, and KBMAX as well as other standard company tools.
- Travel may be required to perform responsibilities.
- Compliance with safety and building codes such as UL, National Electric Code and UBC.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by supervising manager.
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a related field. Minimum of 5 years' engineering experience. Minimum of 3 years' supervising/managing experience. Minimum of 3 years' SoildWorks and PDM experience along with AutoCAD knowledge Lean manufacturing experience is desirable.
