Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Marine / Offshore Crane Design Specialist to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the conceptualization, detailed design, and technical development of marine and offshore crane systems. Your expertise will ensure that these critical lifting solutions meet industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects in the maritime and offshore sectors, leveraging advanced CAD tools and mechanical engineering principles to deliver reliable, efficient, and compliant crane designs. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive mechanical designs for marine and offshore cranes using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and specialized 3D modeling tools like SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, and Pro/ENGINEER. Create detailed 2D CAD drafting and 3D models for system components, assemblies, schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and building information modeling (BIM) applications. Ensure designs adhere to industry standards including ASME codes & standards while incorporating best practices in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) for precision manufacturing. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems with structural and electrical components within complex offshore environments. Prepare technical documentation, including CAD documentation, schematics, system design reports, and assembly instructions for manufacturing and installation. Conduct design reviews, perform stress analysis, and validate mechanical integrity through simulation tools to optimize safety and performance. Maintain accurate records of design revisions using PDM software and support technical writing efforts for project proposals or reports. Qualifications Proven experience in mechanical drafting, 2D CAD drafting, 3D CAD modeling for product design, and system design within marine or offshore industries. Strong knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, or Pro/ENGINEER is essential. Familiarity with mechanical engineering principles related to crane systems including lifting mechanisms, structural analysis, hydraulics/pneumatics integration, and material selection. Understanding of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, BIM tools, and technical documentation standards. Knowledge of industry codes & standards such as ASME is required to ensure compliance in design specifications. Ability to interpret engineering drawings including GD&T annotations; experience with 3D CAD modeling is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills with a focus on technical writing; ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications in CAD software or mechanical design are advantageous.
