for a Drafter/Technician!Job Summary:
The Drafter/Technician is a hybrid position responsible for supporting product development through both technical drafting and hands-on prototype assembly. This role combines SolidWorks design support with manufacturing technician responsibilities. Approximately 50% of the position is dedicated to drafting and design activities, while the remaining 50% focuses on prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing.Drafting & Design Responsibilities:
Create and maintain detailed SolidWorks part drawings and assembly drawings Develop 3D models and detailed assembly designs to support product development Generate bills of materials (BOMs) and supporting engineering documentation Revise and update drawings based on engineering changes and project requirements Support minor mechanical design activities under the direction of engineering and product development leadership Ensure drawings comply with company drafting standards and engineering best practices Assist with document control and maintenance of design filesTechnician & Prototype Responsibilities:
Build prototypes with minimal information from SolidWorks models Build prototypes from engineering drawings and work instructions Assemble mechanical and electro-mechanical products and subassemblies Fabricate, modify, and troubleshoot prototype components as needed Perform testing and evaluation of prototype units Document build activities, test results, and observations Identify design, assembly, and manufacturing issues and communicate findings to engineering personnel Support validation builds, pilot production activities, and continuous improvement initiatives Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentQualifications:
Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred 2+ years of experience creating fabrication and assembly drawings using SolidWorks Demonstrated hands-on mechanical assembly experience Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on fabrication skills Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Effective verbal and written communication skillsPhysical Requirements:
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform assembly work throughout the workday Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionallyWorking Conditions:
