Job Title:
Electrical Drafter Job Description The Drafter creates and modifies detailed electrical drawings and 3D models using Revit and related BIM tools to support construction and fabrication. This role focuses on routing and coordinating electrical conduit systems, producing accurate construction documents, and collaborating with project teams to ensure designs are clear, buildable, and aligned with project requirements. Although the preference is to hire someone with a couple years professional experience, we will consider recent Associates, CAD certificate or similar profiles as long as you come with coursework training in Revit and AutoCAD. Responsibilities Create and modify electrical drawings and 3D models using Revit and other BIM software to support construction and coordination efforts. Perform routine drafting assignments that require a thorough knowledge of computer-aided drafting standards, practices, and techniques. Develop and maintain detailed electrical conduit layouts, including routing and declashing of electrical conduit systems with other trades. Use the command language and quick actions within CAD and BIM systems to streamline drawing creation and improve productivity. Apply mathematics and geometry to prepare accurate drawings and convert design dimensions into resizing dimensions for production processes. Review work orders, design documents, and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions and design requirements. Calculate figures and use conversion charts and calculators to ensure dimensions and scaling are accurate for subsequent construction or fabrication steps. Increase proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other software tools, learning and applying advanced options to enhance efficiency and quality. Create and manage Revit worksheets and participate in Revit worksharing processes to coordinate with other team members. Manipulate Revit families, views, browser structure, sheets, schedules, filters, and related functions to produce clear and organized construction documents. Coordinate 3D models with other trades, identifying and resolving clashes and alignment issues in a BIM environment. Import and integrate external documents such as spreadsheets, photos, images, and word processing files into Revit projects. Read and interpret 2D plans, both electronically and in hard copy, and translate them into accurate 3D models and shop drawings. Create simple parametric families, utilize shared parameters, and build schedules and complex geometry in Revit when needed. Prepare copies and assemble sets of drawings and documents for internal teams, field personnel, and external stakeholders. Download and manage drawings and project information from web portals, SharePoint, FTP sites, and other project websites. Receive and transmit documents on behalf of the design team, ensuring accurate version control and timely distribution. Operate and troubleshoot plotters, printers, and reproduction systems used in the office or on job sites. Perform additional drafting and documentation duties as assigned to support project and team needs. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. Completion of drafting courses. One to two years of technical training in drafting or a related field preferred. Working experience in electrical drafting or MEP drafting using Revit, or at least training through coursework and projects in Associates, CAD certificate or other trainings. General working knowledge of Revit, including the ability to create Revit worksheets and participate in Revit worksharing processes.
