Job Description
Description ARM Group is seeking a Project Engineer who will assist with the management of planning, design, permitting and construction oversite of multi-disciplined projects to include non-coal mining and quarry related projects, post construction stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control planning. The successful candidate will possess an "ownership mentality" and be a highly motivated, resourceful, well-organized, and collaborative engineer that is able to meet project goals, schedules, and budgets. ARM's team is comprised of a diverse, talented, and hard-working group of individuals committed to growing both our business and these industries. The position will require a working knowledge of civil and environmental engineering best-practices with a focus on identifying, communicating, and solving engineering and permitting challenges that may impact a project's overall feasibility, cost, or constructability. In addition to early-stage due diligence and engineering coordination, the position will also require project management responsibilities including: local on-site support involving interfacing with regulators and other officials to support permit approvals; communicating with clients on technical issues or concerns; performing engineering calculations; preparing detailed designs, interconnection coordination; construction administration, budget management, and QA/QC of projects in construction. Responsibilities Prepare, review, and update design drawings and investigation reports. Coordinate the development, design and permitting of multiple projects simultaneously. Assess and mitigate project risks. Perform and/or check technical calculations. Use the principles of engineering to develop solutions to permitting, design, and construction challenges. Provide technical support for projects. Research regulations, codes, zoning ordinances, and other requirements as needed to ensure project compliance. Prepare reports, letters, emails, permit applications, etc. for projects. Observe, monitor, and document field work while analyzing problems and possible solutions. Collaborate with other team members to meet deliverables on projects and obtain further knowledge and experiences. Effectively communicate with key stake holders including clients, project managers, CAD designers, and other technical members of the project team. Pro-actively recognize conditions and problems of non-routine nature, develop solutions, and seek guidance when needed. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related engineering discipline. E.I.T. Certificate required. P.E. License preferred. 5+ years of engineering experience to include post construction stormwater management design, Erosion and Sediment (E&S) design and permitting, non-coal mine and/or quarry permitting. Ability to manage task level assignments independently. Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) experience, including surface water runoff modeling, stream response and floodplain interaction preferred. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD (or similar stormwater software), HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS preferred. Experience with directly preparing site grading and stormwater management plans or guiding plan preparation. Excellent communication and public speaking skills: articulate, assertive, and confident. Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple, complex tasks. Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills. Ambitious and eager to grow. Detail-oriented and thorough. Strong work ethic and self-motivated mentality. Must have a strong technical competency and analytical ability. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with key stakeholders. Must be able to work independently and collaborate with peers when appropriate. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Reasonably proficient in MS Office 365, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
