Job Description

The Shaw Group, LLC is seeking an experienced NDE Technician Level
II MT/PT
to support industrial construction and fabrication projects across the energy, petrochemical, and industrial sectors. In this field-based role, you will perform Level II magnetic particle and liquid penetrant examinations on welds, piping, and structural components, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and client specifications. You will interpret indications, document results, and collaborate closely with construction, quality, and client teams. This position operates in a safety-first, team-oriented environment with opportunities to grow technical expertise on large, complex projects. Responsibilities Perform Level II magnetic particle (MT) and liquid penetrant (PT) examinations on welds, piping, and structural components. Interpret indications, evaluate results to applicable codes and project specifications, and clearly classify reportable conditions. Prepare accurate inspection reports, maintain test records, and ensure traceability of all examinations performed. Set up, calibrate, and maintain MT/PT equipment and consumables in accordance with procedures and manufacturer recommendations. Work closely with field crews, quality, and client representatives to schedule inspections and support project milestones. Follow all site safety rules, use required PPE, and participate in job safety analyses and toolbox talks. Read and interpret drawings, weld maps, and isometrics to plan inspection coverage and verify correct locations. Assist in training or mentoring junior NDE personnel as directed by supervision. Support audits and client reviews by providing documentation and technical clarification on performed examinations.
