Job Description

Formed in 1993, CFAN is a 50/50 Joint Venture between GE Aviation & Safran Aircraft Engines of France. The partnership was created to introduce composite fan blades in a GE90 Engine that powers the Boeing 777. It has leveraged the success of this product to introduce additional fan blades on the GEnx Engines that power the Boeing 787 and Boeing 747-8. CFAN has become a leader in advanced composite technology through the use of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. With close to half of its engineering personnel graduating from Texas State University, CFAN relies on this relationship to keep bringing technological breakthroughs in the manufacturing of composite fan blades. Job Duties/responsibilities:
The Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineer will drive improvements and provide additional depth for NDT Department support. This individual will be responsible for assisting CFAN's Responsible Level III in day-to-day NDT duties and department needs. The NDT Engineer will report to the NDT Business Leader .
Essential Job Functions:
NDT Engineer will be responsible for part inspection creation and development, cost savings initiatives, project management, equipment efficiency benchmarking, and general NDT improvement projects. This individual will also work in a team environment with Manufacturing and Quality engineers, shop floor personnel, and must have the capacity to make the synthesis between products, manufacturing or inspection processes, and improvement projects. Support Metrology Engineering Team Other duties as assigned.

Performing the duties of this job will require the ability to lift, bend, reach, pull, push, or stand when necessary. Have sufficient mobility to navigate in a manufacturing environment. Required Education and Experience BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Material Science) from accredited University or 5 years of documented technical experience. Experience with Ultrasonics and Computed Tomography inspection techniques. Desirable Qualification Aerospace manufacturing experience. 2 Years as a CT and or UT Level II in accordance with NAS410. Familiarity with UT and CT motion controls, data acquisition and image processing. Ability to set up and standardize NDT equipment for the inspection of production hardware. Familiarity with Assisted Defect Recognition or Artificial Intelligence types of process improvements. 2 Years of work experience with composite manufacturing. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
