Our firm provides comprehensive land development and surveying services, and this role is a key part of strengthening our field operations as we continue to scale. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who already knows how to lead a survey crew, enjoys hands-on fieldwork, and wants a long-term home with opportunities for career advancement and licensure. About the Role We are currently experiencing an increase in project volume and are building a more regionalized field team to better serve our clients. As a Survey Party Chief, you will independently run survey operations in the field, support a wide range of land development and construction projects, and work with modern Trimble equipment. This position is primarily field-based and remote, with limited need to report to the office. We provide a company credit card for gas, tolls, lodging, and related expenses. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage field survey operations with minimal oversight Perform boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, and construction stakeout Operate Trimble S5 robotic total stations, GPS/RTK systems, and data collectors Interpret plans, perform field calculations, and solve problems on-site Produce accurate field notes, sketches, and digital records Coordinate directly with office staff and Project Managers regarding project requirements Maintain and care for all assigned survey equipment Uphold safety procedures and represent the company professionally on all job sites Travel & Territory Primary work in New Jersey and New York Occasional travel within the broader tri-state region Rare overnight travel to locations such as Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, or Virginia — scheduled in advance with consideration for personal and family needs Variety of project durations, ranging from half-day visits to multi-day assignments Candidates located in Central NJ (Burlington, Ocean, Monmouth Counties) are especially encouraged, as this helps us better regionalize our field coverage.
