$100 per completed survey About the Role Homex Home Services is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Solar Site Surveyor to conduct pre-installation site assessments for solar customers throughout the Erie, PA area. This is a flexible, part-time opportunity — perfect for someone who wants control over their own schedule and enjoys being out in the field rather than behind a desk. Pick up as many or as few surveys as fit your availability. What You'll Do Travel to customer homes in and around Erie, PA to complete on-site solar surveys ahead of installation Assess and photograph the roof (type, condition, pitch, and layout) to confirm solar panel placement Inspect and document the electrical panel, meter, and main service equipment Check attic access and take measurements needed for wiring and mounting Note any shading obstructions (trees, chimneys, vents) that could affect panel performance Accurately record measurements and site conditions using a smartphone or tablet Communicate professionally and courteously with homeowners during each visit Submit completed survey reports promptly after each appointment Represent Homex Home Services with a professional appearance and positive attitude What We're Looking For Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle Willingness to travel to residential locations throughout the Erie, PA area Comfortable getting into attics and on/around rooftops as needed to complete assessments Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet to take photos and complete digital forms Strong attention to detail and accurate measurement skills Punctual, dependable, and self-motivated — you'll often be working independently Prior experience in solar, electrical, roofing, or construction is a plus, but not required Required Tools Surveyors must supply their own basic tools: Pitch gauge — to measure roof pitch/slope at each roof plane surveyed Tape measure — for roof plane, obstruction, and main service panel/equipment clearance measurements Telescopic ladder (16.5 ft or longer) — for safe roof access on single-story and most two-story homes Screwdriver set — for removing panel covers and accessing equipment for inspection/photos An S-5 tool (for verifying standing-seam metal roof clamp compatibility) is not needed for every survey — we can mail one to you ahead of a scheduled metal-roof job.
Bonus:
Experience flying a drone for roof/site imagery is a plus, but not required.
