A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Job Description

Responsibilities This position plans, directs, and coordinates activities of self and one direct report to support the surveying needs of heavy construction projects. Conducts all work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and programs under the direction of the Survey Manager. Demonstrates experience in construction site/heavy civil layout. Managing a crew and fulfilling schedule obligations. Participates as required with the in-house pre-construction planning procedure and development of the project schedule and meets with the owner or the owner representative. Learns all the details of the plans and specifications of the project assigned. Partner with project team supervision to prioritize tasks. Aggressively seeks out opportunities to increase the AAM survey function with value-adding activities. Coordinate with Operations on the projects needs for equipment and labor. Ensures customer satisfaction in all Customer and Inspector relations and interactions. Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency (GED) required; additional construction-related course work desirable. Minimum of 5 years of survey experience in a heavy civil construction environment. Valid driver's license required. Terramodel, Trimble Business Center and Trimble GPS experience a must.
