Job Description

Family Law Associate Attorney Farrish Johnson Law Office - Mankato, Minnesota Farrish Johnson Law Office has proudly served Southern Minnesota since 1893. As one of the region's most established and trusted law firms, our seven-attorney practice combines a long-standing tradition of excellence with a collaborative culture and experienced support staff. We are seeking an Associate Attorney with 1-5+ years of experience and a strong interest in family law to join our team in Mankato. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is committed to client service, professional growth, and achieving meaningful results in complex and emotionally sensitive matters. The Family Law Associate Attorney will represent clients in a broad range of family law matters, including divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, and related proceedings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Minnesota family law statutes, demonstrate sound legal judgment, and approach each case with professionalism, empathy, and integrity.
Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents including petitions, motions, affidavits, and settlement agreements.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and negotiations.
  • Provide clear, timely, and practical legal advice to clients.
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient and effective case management.
  • Maintain the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and client confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Minnesota.
  • At least 1-5+ years of experience in family law.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with complex family law cases.
  • Familiarity with mediation and alternative dispute resolution processes.
