Job Description Summary The Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Coordinator is responsible for strengthening meaningful family engagement to support children's school readiness and enhancing family well-being toward self-sufficiency. This role focuses on increasing the daily involvement of parents, guardians, caregivers, and other significant adults in the lives of Child Development Center (CDC) children. The PFCE Coordinator provides technical assistance, training, monitoring, and professional development for social services staff and families. The position works collaboratively with all CDC component coordinators, consultants, and leadership staff and develops ongoing partnerships with community agencies to expand resources available to children and families. The PFCE Coordinator also supports policy development, analysis, and interpretation related to social services across the CDC program. This position is responsible for monitoring the quality and effectiveness of social services implementation and ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and UPK-DOE Five Pillars of Family Engagement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities In collaboration with Family Workers, designs and implements a comprehensive family engagement plan with individualized strategies to support family goals and increase parent participation. Collaborates effectively with coordinators, directors, teachers, and other school staff to identify and address the needs of parents and children. Identifies, coordinates, and delivers a wide range of parent education activities and services, including workshops, in-service trainings, and informational sessions. Serves as a liaison between parents, community members, agencies, and organizations. Conducts home visits as required. Models best practices in family engagement for Directors and Family Workers. Participates in Case Conferences and individual parent meetings. Observes children in classroom settings, as needed, and models best practices. Develops consistent strategies to encourage parent participation in Class Committees and Policy Council. Researches and identifies programs, services, and resources to support CDC children and families. Assesses family needs and develops and implements responsive programs and services. Participates in CDC social services evaluations and self-assessment processes. Collaborates with Center and Education Directors to support and monitor the performance of Social Services staff. Monitors and tracks in-kind contributions from volunteers and community partners. Builds strong community partnerships and develops strategies to increase community involvement in the CDC program. Plans and coordinates professional development for Social Services staff and monitors implementation. Participates in professional development activities, workshops, and trainings to enhance knowledge and skills. Works with the Program Director to develop operational procedures, implement strategic initiatives, and complete projects supporting children's education and family self-sufficiency. Participates in program planning and development activities. Performs other related program or social service duties as assigned by the Program Director. Qualifications and Skills Master's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or a related field, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Head Start and/or UPK programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Experience working with parents and families in an early childhood education setting. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Demonstrated interpersonal competence and professionalism. Dependable, consistent, and accurate in completing responsibilities. Knowledge of community resources and family support services. Culturally responsive with an appreciation for diversity and intercultural exchange. Enthusiasm for working with children and families.
