full-time Talent Recruiting Professionals is partnering with a rapidly growing, privately held company in Birmingham to add a Staff Accountant to its accounting team. The organization has nearly doubled in size year over year and continues to expand its operations, creating an opportunity for someone to join at an early stage and grow alongside the business. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who wants broad, hands-on experience rather than being limited to one area of accounting. The Staff Accountant will take primary ownership of accounts payable while working directly with the Controller on month-end close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, audit preparation, and a variety of accounting and process-improvement projects. As the company continues to scale, this position is expected to take on increasing responsibility and offers a strong potential path toward accounting leadership.
Responsibilities include:
Own the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice review, coding, approvals, payments, and vendor communication Assist with month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, fixed assets, and prepaid expenses Maintain accurate vendor and general ledger records Research and resolve accounting discrepancies Assist with year-end audit preparation and external auditor requests Support financial reporting and special accounting projects Partner with the AR team and other departments as needed Assist with the company's upcoming transition from QuickBooks to Sage Help identify and implement accounting process improvements as the organization grows
Qualifications:
1+ year of full-cycle accounting experience required Strong understanding of accounts payable and general accounting principles Bachelor's degree in Accounting strongly preferred Experience supporting an external audit is a plus Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing organization Why consider this opportunity?
