Project Accountant Location:
Seymour, CT Compensation:
$ 80,000-100,000 Position Overview Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial management of multiple projects from start to finish. This role will be responsible for project billing, job costing, reconciliations, financial reporting, and working closely with project managers and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information. Key Responsibilities Manage accounting activities for multiple projects, including tracking costs, revenue, and profitability Prepare and process customer invoices based on contracts, project milestones, and billing schedules Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and variances Perform account and project reconciliations and investigate discrepancies Review purchase orders, vendor invoices, expenses, and other project-related transactions Prepare monthly project financial reports and provide variance analysis Assist with month-end and year-end close activities Maintain accurate project records and supporting documentation Partner with Project Managers and Operations to resolve billing and accounting issues Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding project balances as needed Assist with audits and other financial reporting requests Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably with project accounting, job costing, construction, engineering, real estate, or a project-based environment Strong understanding of general accounting principles Experience with project billing, cost tracking, and reconciliations Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and
VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
Experience with an ERP or accounting system Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
Experience with construction/project accounting software, ERP implementations, or percentage-of-completion accounting. EB-1375569588
