This position is responsible for ensuring accounting principles, practices and procedures are followed to ensure accurate and timely financial statements to the CEO and CFO. The accountant will work directly with the accounting clerk to ensure proper handling and timely completion of payroll. Essential Functions /
Duties:
Maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure. Prepare accurate and timely reporting of all monthly financial reports to CFO, CEO, Finance Committee and Board of Directors. Prepare and analyze weekly cash flow information. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts. Prepare and post monthly journal entries. Maintain a complete understanding of the payroll system, quarterly tax reports and W-2's. Review bi-weekly (and other) payroll for accuracy. Prepare bi-weekly grant draws. Prepare retirement plan uploads. Prepare retirement plan "true up" calculations. Prepare items for the annual 403B audit, annual workers compensation audit and annual financial audit. Assist CFO with preparation of the annual grant budget and operating budget. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, required
Experience:
Experience working in a health care organization with emphasis on financial reporting/general ledger management, preferred. Must be PC and ten key proficient and able to work under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced setting. Experience with MAS 90 or other large, automated accounting system, required. Strong experience with Microsoft software such as Excel and Word, required. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
