With 17+ properties across the Midwest and beyond, we're a growing team that values collaboration, transparency, and results. The Role We're looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our finance team and support the accounting operations of our growing portfolio. In this role, you'll maintain accurate financial records across multiple properties, manage month-end reporting, and provide insights that help our team understand property performance. You'll work closely with our finance and property management teams to keep financial information accurate, organized, and timely. The ideal candidate has experience handling accounting for multiple properties or entities and can balance recurring deadlines with day-to-day accounting needs. What You'll Do Manage day-to-day accounting across a portfolio of 17+ commercial properties and related entities. Complete month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and bank and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare and review monthly property financial statements, investigate discrepancies, and explain budget-to-actual variances. Maintain accurate tenant ledgers, including rent charges, payments, security deposits, and account adjustments. Monitor accounts receivable and coordinate with property management teams on outstanding balances and billing questions. Review and process accounts payable, ensuring expenses are coded to the correct property and account, approvals are obtained, and payments are timely. Record and reconcile intercompany transactions and shared expenses across properties. Support annual property budgets, year-end reporting, 1099 preparation, and requests from external accountants. Help improve accounting processes as our portfolio grows. What We're Looking For Experience in property accounting or commercial real estate accounting, with responsibility for multiple properties or entities. A strong understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close. Familiarity with QuickBooks, Yardi, and Acumatica is a plus. Strong Excel skills and the ability to organize, review, and interpret financial data. High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines across a property portfolio. Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with finance and property management teams.
