This is a great opportunity for someone with medical or ophthalmic experience who enjoys working directly with patients and wants to build a career in eye care. Our Ophthalmic Assistants play an important role in each patient's visit. You will help perform preliminary eye evaluations, operate diagnostic equipment, prepare patients for examinations, assist our physicians, and help keep the clinic running smoothly. What You'll Do Your responsibilities may include: Perform preliminary patient evaluations, including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, pupil function, ocular motility, and patient eye history Perform diagnostic testing, including OCT scans, visual field testing, corneal topography, and fundus photography Prepare patients for examinations and procedures Assist physicians during examinations and procedures Educate patients about medications, eye care, and post-procedure instructions Enter and maintain accurate patient information in our EMR system Clean, sterilize, maintain, and troubleshoot ophthalmic equipment Help manage patient flow and keep appointments moving efficiently Provide a friendly, professional experience for every patient Qualifications We are looking for someone who is dependable, professional, organized, and comfortable working with patients.
Required qualifications include:
High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience in a medical or clinical setting Strong communication and interpersonal skills Working knowledge of medical terminology Good attention to detail Ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment Dependable and punctual Preferred Experience Candidates with ophthalmology or optometry experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Preferred qualifications include:
COA certification (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) Previous ophthalmology or optometry experience Experience using OCT, corneal topography, visual field, and other ophthalmic diagnostic equipment Experience with EMR/EHR systems Ability to independently manage patient flow Bilingual skills are a plus Pay & Benefits Compensation is competitive and based on experience and certification.
