French Excavating (WLF), one of the region's leading construction and transportation companies and a USA Today and Boston Globe Top Place to Work, is looking for an experienced Project Accountant to partner with a growing operations team. Reporting to the head of Finance & Accounting and working closely with ownership, this newly created role is perfect for someone who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and is looking to make an impact on new processes and procedures. Extensive experience and a high level of proficiency with Procore (power user/admin level user) is required.

What You'll Do:

Monitor project budgets, costs, and forecasts to ensure financial accuracy Track job costs (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors) and analyze variances Prepare and manage client billings, including progress billing and retainage Oversee all pending and approved change orders, ensuring proper coding of commitments, maintaining budget accuracy, and proactively updating project estimates Maintain accurate records in the accounting system (e.g., Sage Intacct) Support Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and revenue recognition Reconcile project accounts and investigate discrepancies Coordinate with Project Managers on budgets, change orders, and cost projections Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to projects Ensure compliance with contract terms and financial controls Prepare financial reports for management review

Who You Are:

Knowledgeable about all aspects of construction accounting A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred Minimum of five years of related experience Flexible and adaptable, able to work across business functions Outstanding team player with good interpersonal skills High level of experience with and proficiency in Procore required Proficiency in Excel required, and experience with Sage Intaact a plus
