Job Description

Charter Funerals, a locally owned and family-operated company that operates funeral homes and cemeteries, is seeking a part-time Staff Accountant to join our team in Grandview, MO. We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented professional to support our accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, journal entries, and bank reconciliations. We understand the importance of work-life balance and are happy to offer flexible scheduling —ideal for someone managing busy family or school schedules.
Position Details:
Part-time:
15-30 hours per week (flexible depending on candidate)
Schedule:
Flexible start and end times, as long as hours fall within normal business hours (Monday-Friday) Work setting: In-person at our Grandview office
Responsibilities:
Process and maintain accounts payable records and vendor payments Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger Perform monthly bank reconciliations Assist with payroll processing and reporting Support month-end and year-end closing activities Handle other accounting and administrative duties as needed
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) 1+ year of relevant accounting experience preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting systems Experience with Sage or Paylocity is a plus, but not required Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
