This role is responsible for performing the hands-on accounting work — including daily bank reconciliations, cash flow reporting, credit card reconciliation, and sales and use tax compliance — with all work reviewed and approved by the Controller. The Senior Accountant works under the direct oversight of the Controller, who reviews all output, maintains ownership of the financials, and is responsible for final accuracy and reporting. This structure allows the Controller to focus on review, compliance, and financial reporting while the Senior Accountant handles the execution. Responsibilities Month-End Close Execute the monthly close process under the direction and review of the Controller Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepaid amortization, and recurring entries for Controller review Reconcile balance sheet accounts and present reconciliations to the Controller for approval Prepare month-end reporting packages and financial schedules for Controller review Maintain a close checklist and ensure all tasks are completed on schedule Daily Banking & Cash Management Perform daily bank reconciliations across multiple accounts within ECA's zero-balance account (ZBA) structure Prepare the daily cash flow report for Controller and VP of Financial Operations review Post daily cash activity including wires, ACH transactions, and deposits Credit Card Reconciliation Execute the corporate credit card program reconciliation process Ensure all charges are coded to the appropriate job numbers, cost codes, and GL accounts Resolve coding issues with cardholders and obtain missing documentation prior to Controller review Sales & Use Tax Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns for Controller review prior to filing Maintain a tax calendar and ensure all filings and payments are made on time Stay current on tax nexus obligations as ECA expands into new states Partner with project management and billing teams on taxability questions General Accounting Prepare intercompany transaction reconciliations across ECA's multiple legal entities for Controller review Support the annual financial audit by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests under Controller direction Partner with the Asset Manager to maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries for Controller approval Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy Requirements 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on month-end close execution Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience in multi-entity accounting environments Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under deadline pressure Preferred Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum or comparable construction ERP Construction or contractor industry experience Sales and use tax filing experience across multiple states Work Environment and Culture Full-time office-based with occasional job site or supplier visits Fast-paced environment supporting multiple projects simultaneously Safety-first, people-focused organization
