Property Accounting Manager / Senior Property BookkeeperAbout the Role Halstead Residential is seeking a detail-oriented, highly accountable Property Accounting Manager / Senior Property Bookkeeper to take ownership of day-to-day accounting across our growing multifamily real estate portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working independently, understands property-level accounting, and can keep financial records accurate, current, and organized across multiple properties and entities. The successful candidate will work closely with ownership and operations and will be responsible for maintaining clean books, producing reliable monthly financials, and ensuring that bills, payments, deposits, loans, and property-level expenses are properly recorded. Responsibilities Manage bookkeeping across multiple properties and legal entities Maintain accurate accounting records in AppFolio Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Manage accounts payable, invoice entry, coding, and payment preparation Review vendor invoices for accuracy and proper property allocation Reconcile tenant charges, receipts, security deposits, and accounts receivable Track outstanding receivables and support delinquency reporting Maintain accurate loan, escrow, and mortgage-payment records Properly classify repairs, maintenance, capital expenditures, and other property expenses Record and reconcile intercompany transactions Review general ledger activity for errors or unusual transactions Maintain organized documentation supporting accounting entries Complete monthly financial close on a timely basis Produce accurate property-level profit and loss statements and balance sheets Assist ownership with cash-flow and property-performance reporting Prepare accounting records and supporting schedules for lenders, CPAs, tax preparers, and auditors Assist with acquisitions and onboarding accounting for newly acquired properties Help improve accounting controls, processes, and reporting as the portfolio grows Qualifications 3+ years of bookkeeping, property accounting, or related accounting experience Experience with multifamily or residential property management strongly preferred AppFolio experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger accounting Experience managing accounting for multiple properties or entities preferred Strong Excel skills Highly organized and detail-oriented Comfortable identifying discrepancies and independently researching problems Able to meet deadlines without constant supervision Strong written and verbal communication skills High level of integrity and discretion when handling financial information What Success Looks Like Within the first several months, this person should be able to independently maintain clean books across the portfolio, complete reconciliations promptly, keep payables organized, identify accounting discrepancies before they become problems, and produce dependable monthly financial statements that ownership can use to make decisions. As the portfolio grows, this position will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and help build the accounting infrastructure of a rapidly expanding real estate company. Compensation $60,000-$70,000 annually , depending on experience. Candidates with significant AppFolio, multifamily, and full-cycle property accounting experience may be considered at the upper end of the range.
