Position Summary TPC Food Service is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting and financial activities of our trucking company. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience with accounts payable and receivable, and an understanding of the trucking or transportation industry. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, monitoring expenses, and assisting management with financial reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Process and verify carrier, vendor, fuel, maintenance, insurance, toll, and other operating invoices.
- Prepare customer invoices and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, fuel card, and other company accounts.
- Record and track trucking-related expenses accurately.
- Review fuel purchases, mileage, tolls, repairs, and maintenance costs.
- Maintain accurate records for trucks, trailers, equipment, and related expenses.
- File government-related taxes
- Maintain organized documentation for audits, tax preparation, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
- Work with management, dispatch, operations, drivers, customers, and vendors as needed to resolve accounting issues.
- Ensure accounting records are accurate, current, and maintained confidentially.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in trucking, transportation, logistics, or fleet operations is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidential financial information. Preferred Experience Experience with the following is a plus:
- Trucking or transportation accounting
- Driver settlements
- Fuel cards and fuel tax reporting
- IFTA-related records and filings
- DOT-related documentation and filings
- Fleet maintenance expenses
- Truck and trailer leases
- QuickBooks or other accounting software
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
