Job Description

Job Description Under the supervision of the Finance Director the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their assigned programs financial records and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and BVCOG policies. This role is integral in supporting financial operations, leading complex accounting activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices for the programs or grants assigned. This is an advanced level position requiring a high level of responsibility. Preparation of annual budget for various programs and grants. Participate in the development of Annual Budgets; Amended/Adjusted Budgets; Budget based Program reports; and variance analysis reports as well as request funding from agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience Problem-solving skills, with attention to details and accuracy is required. Strong time management and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possession of Certified Public Accountant certificate Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible finance/accounting experience, preferably Technically adept in financial accounting with strong knowledge of the general ledger and full cycle accounting processes. Ability to multi-task in a high volume fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and follow up on issues. Strong knowledge of Governmental Accounting (Fund Accounting) concepts Have a good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Have working knowledge of MIP software and strong Excel skills
