Corporate Accountant | Onsite | Purcellville, VA | $95k-105K+bonus+equity Are you a detail-driven accounting professional who takes pride in getting the numbers right? We're seeking a Corporate Accountant (Senior Accountant) to play a critical role in monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and cash flow forecasting for a growing, fast-paced organization. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical accounting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently on research, analysis, and process improvement. You'll partner closely with the Controller and help deliver financial information leadership relies on to make decisions. Reconciliations & Analysis Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations Review reconciliations prepared by other team members Prepare and analyze monthly work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, tying job cost and billing data to revenue recognition and the general ledger Reconcile prepaid expenses and record monthly amortization Record and reconcile fixed asset depreciation and amortization Handle lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842 Investigate and resolve reconciling items and variances Journal Entries & Close Support Prepare journal entries including accruals, prepaids, lease accounting, and WIP-related entries with complete documentation Support month-end close activities and ensure deadlines are met Reporting & Automation Build, maintain, and improve reports and dashboards within the ERP and related reporting tools Support reporting automation and systems integration initiatives Help improve management reporting Management Reporting & Forecasting Prepare flash reporting for leadership ahead of full close Maintain KPI scorecards and support ad hoc financial and operational reporting Assist with weekly, monthly, and 13-week cash flow forecasting Support variance analysis between actuals and forecast Tax, Audit & Technical Accounting Coordinate personal property tax filings across applicable jurisdictions Prepare and file S&U tax returns Research GAAP guidance and draft technical accounting documentation Support implementation of new accounting standards Prepare audit schedules and respond to external auditor requests What Success Looks Like Reconciliations and supporting schedules are accurate, complete, and delivered on time WIP reporting and financial packages are reliable and decision-ready Flash reports, dashboards, and scorecards are timely and trusted by leadership Cash flow forecasts are consistently updated and dependable Tax filings are accurate and submitted on time Audit support is organized and responsive Technical accounting research is clear, thorough, and well-documented
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required 3+ years of experience in GL accounting and/or public accounting (audit) Experience in construction or project-based services preferred Exposure to percentage-of-completion accounting and WIP reporting is a plus Experience with multi-state personal property tax and S&U tax filings preferred Solid understanding of GAAP and ability to research and document accounting positions
