Job Description

OpCo Controller Mica Commercial Roofing Gilbert, AZ Job Details Full-time From $80,000 a year 11 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Qualifications Administrative experience Bachelor's degree Office management Bachelor's degree in accounting Process management Full Job Description The Opportunity At Veteran Singleply, we've built our business on principles that have mattered from day one: quality, integrity, commitment, and honor. As a service-disabled veteran-founded commercial roofing company, those values have shaped how we work, how we serve our customers, and the reputation we've earned along the way. Since 2009, we've completed thousands of projects and built a business grounded in strong relationships, reliable execution, and work we're proud to stand behind. That strong foundation has opened the door to an exciting new chapter. We're now a MICA Commercial Roofing company, joining a growing platform of businesses built to last. This next chapter allows us to build on what has made Veterans Singleply successful while gaining greater resources and opportunities to expand our capabilities, strengthen our business, and accelerate our growth. For the people who join us, it means becoming part of a company with a proven foundation and an exciting future ahead. We're proud of where we've been, clear about what we stand for, and looking for great people to help us build what's next. Your Impact As our Operations Controller / Operations Specialist, you'll help create the financial and operational discipline that allows our business to run well and grow well. This is not a role for someone who wants to manage the business from behind a spreadsheet. You'll be in the business, working alongside leadership and our teams to understand what's happening, keep financial and operational information accurate, identify where things are getting stuck, and make sure the right processes are in place to keep things moving. You'll bring together accounting, reporting, project financials, office administration, and day-to-day business operations, giving leadership better visibility while creating greater consistency across how we work. Performance Outcomes In this role, you will: Maintain accurate and timely financial information across AP, AR, billing, collections, reconciliations, general ledger, and other core accounting activities. Support month-end close and ensure financial information and reporting are complete, accurate, and delivered on time. Maintain visibility into project financial performance, including job costing, WIP, margins, billing, and collections. Partner with project and operational teams to identify and resolve financial or administrative issues affecting project performance. Monitor receivables, cash activity, vendor obligations, and other key business indicators and proactively surface concerns. Maintain effective accounting processes, documentation, controls, and records. Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational reporting to help leadership understand business performance and make informed decisions. Coordinate recurring administrative and office processes, including payroll support, vendors, facilities, records, supplies, and other business needs as applicable. Create greater consistency across day-to-day processes and ensure important activities have clear ownership and follow-through. Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and recurring issues and take the lead in developing practical solutions. Leverage shared resources to ensure local processes and information flow effectively across the broader organization. Help establish scalable processes and operating rhythms that support the company's continued growth. Relevant Experience & Qualifications 5+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or business operations experience, preferably within commercial construction, roofing, specialty contracting, or another project-based business. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline preferred; equivalent progressive experience will be considered. Hands-on experience with core accounting activities including general ledger, AP, AR, billing, collections, account reconciliations, and month-end close. Working knowledge of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, project margins, and revenue/cost tracking. Experience analyzing financial and operational information and translating it into actionable insights for business leaders. Demonstrated experience partnering directly with operations, project management, or field leadership to solve business and financial issues. Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and financial reporting. Demonstrated ability to build or improve processes, establish controls, and create greater consistency in a growing or changing environment. Experience managing or coordinating office administration, vendors, payroll processes, or other business operations preferred. Strong proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and business technology. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. What We Offer Competitive market-based compensation Comprehensive health and welfare benefits A hands-on role with broad visibility across the business and direct access to leadership The opportunity to help strengthen how an established company operates as we enter our next chapter of growth
