JOB SUMMARY
The Compliance/Internal Audit Officer is responsible for implementing, strengthening and monitoring the Company's internal procedures and controls in accordance with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements. This position contributes to reducing the Company's exposure to risks associated with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT). The incumbent will also provide support in conducting internal audits, special reviews and investigations in keeping with professional auditing standards. These activities are intended to strengthen internal controls, improve operating procedures and encourage compliance throughout the organisation.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism Ensure that all relevant stakeholders understand, implement and consistently follow the procedures and controls contained in the Company's Compliance Programme. Monitor customers' transactions and business relationships with the Company to identify unusual or suspicious activities, including warning signs and "red flags" that appear inconsistent with the customer's profile or the expected nature of the business. Receive, assess and maintain proper records of suspicious customer transactions and submit the required reports to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) within the prescribed timeframe. Act as the Company's official liaison with the FIU and provide the Unit with the necessary cooperation and assistance. Regularly review the Company's Anti-Money Laundering policies, procedures and record-keeping practices, and recommend improvements based on legislative changes, industry developments and recognised best practices. Advise and communicate with Executive Management on matters relating to Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism. Remain informed of the Financial Action Task Force's published lists of non-cooperative and high-risk jurisdictions, as well as listed entities identified by the Financial Intelligence Unit. Internal Audit Review and assess the Company's systems, controls and operating procedures, and recommend improvements where weaknesses or areas of concern are identified. Assist with defining audit objectives, determining the scope of audit assignments and establishing the procedures required to achieve the intended objectives. Help prepare appropriate audit plans for scheduled reviews and assignments. Conduct audit testing to determine whether approved systems, policies and procedures are being followed, and document the findings arising from the tests performed. Develop proposed audit recommendations and monitor the implementation of approved corrective actions. Undertake special assignments, reviews and investigations as directed. Provide the necessary information and assistance to External Auditors during the audit process. Prepare periodic reports for submission to the Board of Directors and presentation at Board meetings. Other Responsibilities Ensure that employee training and refresher training are conducted annually. Support the Company's HSSE standards and objectives by: Reporting all accidents, incidents and near-miss events. Attending and participating in Toolbox Meetings. Perform any other related responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of ACCA Level II. A minimum of three years' experience working in an audit environment.REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Sound knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism legislation. Ability to read, understand and interpret laws and regulatory requirements relating to Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism. Willingness to learn, develop professionally and contribute to an effective internal audit function. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively as part of a team. Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate ideas clearly, professionally and concisely, both orally and in writing. REF/J.C Ref:
