Candidates must be in the NY area with a commutable distance to our JFK office. This role is eligible for hybrid work but candidates must also be able to travel to our HQ in Glen Burnie, MD, as needed for meetings and training. Position Summary The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and compliance of the JFK branch, overseeing all operations, financial management, employee development, and customer relationships. This role drives profitability, ensures adherence to all regulatory requirements, and partners with internal teams to support strategic growth while maintaining high service standards. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all branch operations, including import and freight forwarding activities, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance Ensure full compliance with U.S. Customs and international trade regulations (HTSUS, EAR, ITAR, ISF, AD/CVD, Section 232/301, etc.) Develop, implement, and maintain Branch SOPs and a CHB audit program to support regulatory compliance Oversee financial performance of the branch, including budgeting, P&L management, revenue growth, and cost control Review WIP and uninvoiced reports regularly to ensure timely billing and strong accounts receivable performance Negotiate with carriers, truckers, and vendors to optimize pricing and increase profitability Partner with Sales to support business development, strengthen customer relationships, and participate in client visits Serve as a senior point of contact for customers regarding complex import, classification, and compliance matters Lead, coach, and develop staff through performance management, training, and cross-functional development initiatives Conduct performance appraisals, manage employee relations, and oversee hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations in coordination with HR Build succession plans and develop future leaders within the branch Monitor and improve operational processes through technology and best practices Participate in industry associations and stay current on regulatory and market changes Education Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or related field required Experience 5-7 years of experience in import compliance (mainly air, some ocean and domestic) and logistics operations Brokers license or CCS required (licensed brokers preferred) Minimum 3+ years of leadership or management experience Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of customs compliance, import regulations, and documentation Experience in freight forwarding, routing of freight, rate negotiation Working knowledge of both air and ocean operations Proven leadership and team development capabilities Solid financial acumen, including budgeting and P&L management Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Excellent communication and client relationship management skills Proficiency in logistics and customs software (CargoWise preferred) Why Join Us? Salary Range:
