Job Description

Kit Carson Propane is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our team. This position plays an important role in managing customer accounts, processing payments, assisting with collections, and providing excellent customer service. The position also supports our propane cylinder dock operations, including safely filling propane cylinders for walk-in customers. What You'll Do Process, post, verify, and record customer payments and daily billing transactions. Prepare and submit customer invoices and monthly billing statements using the Cargas System. Monitor delinquent accounts and communicate with customers regarding past-due balances. Prepare payment arrangements for delinquent accounts within established guidelines. Research billing discrepancies, account issues, and past-due amounts. Assist with periodic accounts receivable reconciliation. Process LIHEAP and budget billing payments. Provide exceptional customer service in person, online, and by phone. Assist customers with billing questions, account inquiries, tank orders, and payments. Maintain accurate customer records and account information. Communicate important order and service changes to drivers, technicians, and other staff. Safely fill propane cylinders, including cylinders up to 100 lbs. Inspect and requalify propane cylinders in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements. Maintain a clean, safe cylinder dock and accurate inventory records. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. What We're Looking For Previous hands-on experience in accounting, billing, or accounts receivable is required . High school diploma or equivalent. Must be 21 years of age or older . Strong math and numerical skills. Knowledge of accounts receivable processes and financial recordkeeping. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and 10-key calculators. Experience with billing or accounts receivable software; Cargas experience is preferred . Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong customer service and problem-solving skills. High level of integrity when handling payments, customer information, and collections. Licensing Requirement The successful candidate must obtain an LP09 Station Dispensing LP Gas License within 90 days of employment to perform propane cylinder filling operations for cylinders up to 100 lbs. Physical Requirements This is a combination office and active cylinder-dock position. The employee must be able to: Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly Carry up to 75 lbs. Push and pull up to 80 lbs. Sit for extended periods while performing computer and office duties Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for special events or during peak seasonal demands.
