Job Description

This is a full-time, on-site Accounting Assistant / Bookkeeper role located in Youngstown, OH. Candidate must have solid communication, technology, and analytical skills. Candidates should possess some knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and tax principles. This role will support the Accounting team by performing day-to-day Accounting, Tax and Technology tasks, along with some administrative responsibilities.
Position Details:
General Accounting and Tax Knowledge:
Ability to understand general accounting and tax information required Performs monthly financial close procedures, including quarterly and/or year end Posts journal entries and adjustments, as necessary Assist with weekly account payables process Assist with year-end 1099 and 1096 preparation / filing Annual tax and information filings for various entities Assist with review of tax notices
Investments:
Recordkeeping & reconciliation of investment activity, bank and custodial accounts Prepare Monthly Consolidated Cash and Investment Report Internal Controls -
Knowledge and Documentation:
Follow internal control procedures supporting the closing function including maintenance of the general ledger and preparation of reconciliations, as necessary
Family Office Knowledge:
Basic knowledge of Family Office a plus
Administrative:
Bank runs. Labels for files, certified receipts, and postage for mailings Filing - payables, audit files, other. Assist with annual fundraiser, process credit card transactions Back-up for printing checks, mail distribution, answering phones, etc.
Skills and Attributes:
Academic/Technical Qualifications:
An associate's degree in accounting or finance a plus but not required
Knowledge and Experience:
Knowledge of financial spreadsheets and accounting required
Computer Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, and Word; strong analytical skills required. Sage50, QuickBooks or similar experience a plus
Industry Experience:
3+ years of relevant work experience required
Leadership/Management Experience/Capabilities:
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and responsibilities while maintaining a positive attitude; capable of multi-tasking with family members, staff, and external vendors
Communication Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills with family members, staff, and external vendors; ability to handle issues quickly and promptly
Attitudes and Behavior:
Works well independently or in team situation. Self-motivated, pleasant, and detail oriented

This position will communicate frequently with family members, company management, office staff, and related-party staff

This position will have direct interaction and communication with bank / custodial agents and external tax partners
