Days Summary :
Identifies, reports and creates plans to resolve issues preventing the accurate and timely payment of accounts. Assists Accounts Receivable (AR) management in creating and implementing plans, policies, procedures and training material for the AR staff. Reviews monthly collections for patterns in rejections preventing reimbursement. Serves as an internal resource to AR personnel. Takes an active role, often as project leader, for the start up of new programs.
Responsibilities :
Provides expertise and project coordination for effective accounts receivable management, as objectives are established or revised. The expectation is for the billing office to be a national leader in AR management among academic medical centers. Evaluates utilization of staff's procedures for managing accounts receivable, including distribution of accounts by specific parameters. Makes recommendations for changes and helps implement them. Evaluates effectiveness of policies and procedures for timely follow up on open invoices at various periods. Reviews various reports regarding open AR and rejections in order to identify AR problem areas. Provides expert assistance and project coordination for appeals to third parties, and project coordination for handling of problematic accounts. Prepares monthly reports detailing payment posting for General Ledger contract accounts. Serves as support in the absence of AR management.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required) Bachelor of Arts or Science (Preferred) 5+ years Progressive experience in physician billing preferably in an academic setting (Required) We believe that the best care for our patients starts with the best care for our employees.
