  • 40 hours per month About the Company Monroe County Habitat for Humanity (MCHFH) Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Monroe County Habitat for Humanity's main focus for 2026 is Home Preservation/Critical Home Repair. This program allows homeowners who are affected by low income, old age or disability to make necessary repairs on their homes. When these critical repairs are not made, homes can potentially become condemned. There is a great need for these types of repairs in our Monroe County. Role Summary The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring accurate transaction tracking, and account reconciliation using QuickBooks Online. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of accounting principles. Core Responsibilities of a Bookkeeper A bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate and organized financial records for Monroe County Habitat for Humanity.
Key duties include:
  • Recording monthly transactions such as invoices, payments, expenses to maintain a clear financial picture
  • Reconciling accounts by comparing bank statements with internal records to ensure accuracy
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable, including entering vendor bills, tracking due dates, creating invoices and following up on overdue payments with the MCHFH's management
  • Maintaining organized financial documentation for audits, tax filings, and internal review
  • Transaction categorization: ensuring all bank and credit card transactions are correctly classified, including resolving mismatches or duplicates
  • Invoice and payment management: creating invoices, applying payments, and maintaining accounts receivable aging reports
  • Receipt accounting with customers per internal process: entering vendor bills, tracking receipts, and ensuring costs and expenses are allocated to the correct entities Skills and Qualifications Successful QuickBooks bookkeepers typically demonstrate:
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online, Desktop, or Advanced) and familiarity with its reconciliation, reporting
  • Strong attention to detail to prevent errors in financial records
  • Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple accounts and deadlines
  • Optional certifications like QuickBooks ProAdvisor can validate expertise
