full-time Real Estate Finance Associate Charlotte, North Carolina $310,000 - $435,000 + bonus The Opportunity A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Real Estate Finance Associate to join its highly regarded Charlotte practice. The role is focused on sophisticated commercial real estate financing, particularly the origination of CMBS and CLO loans on behalf of institutional lenders, investment banks and other major financial institutions. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with substantive lender-side real estate finance experience to join a nationally recognised practice offering market-leading compensation and exposure to complex transactions across a broad range of commercial real estate asset classes. The Role The successful attorney will advise sophisticated lenders and financial institutions on commercial real estate financing transactions, including: Representing institutional lenders, investment banks and CMBS platforms. Handling CMBS and CLO loan originations. Drafting and negotiating loan agreements, promissory notes and related financing documentation. Drafting and negotiating mortgages, deeds of trust, guarantees and ancillary documents. Reviewing leases, zoning reports, organizational documents and third-party diligence. Advising on securitization requirements and rating agency criteria. Handling ground lease, cash-management and structural issues. Coordinating with originators, underwriters and securitization counsel. Managing transaction closings and deal timetables. Communicating directly with clients, borrowers' counsel and third-party service providers. The Candidate The successful candidate should have: At least 4 years of substantive commercial real estate finance experience. Significant experience representing institutional lenders, investment banks and/or CMBS platforms. Experience with CMBS and/or CLO loan origination. Strong loan-document drafting and negotiation skills. Experience conducting and managing transactional due diligence. Knowledge of securitization and rating-agency requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong academic credentials. A JD from an ABA-accredited law school. North Carolina Bar admission or the ability to waive into North Carolina.
