Part-time (20 hours per week) The Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support services to victims of domestic and sexual assault. We are seeking a detail-oriented and responsible Part-Time Financial Assistant to join our team. Position Overview The Part-Time Financial Assistant will work closely with both the Finance Manager and the Executive Director, contributing to the nonprofit financial operations of the center. This position will be primarily responsible for performing accounting and fiscal tasks, including handling accounts payable, providing support to the monthly billing processes, ensuring accurate tracking of grant expenditures, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and grant guidelines to support the mission of the organization. Key Responsibilities Manage non-profit financial and accounting functions, ensuring proper allocation of revenues and expenses across multiple funding sources and programs. Provide support to the monthly billing processes, collaborating closely with the Finance Manager to compile billing data, monitor monthly grant expenditures, and verify figures for timely financial submissions. Provide comprehensive billing backup and support, helping to compile necessary documentation and organize source files required for grant reimbursements and invoices. Process accounts payable, maintaining strict adherence to internal controls. Maintain and organize financial records chronologically, ensuring clear audit trails for federal, state, and private grant documentation. Assist with annual single audit. Assist with additional fiscal tasks and report preparation as needed to support the overall functioning and audit readiness of the agency. Required Skills & Qualifications Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Proven experience with QuickBooks Online in a professional capacity. Direct experience with grant billing, accrual accounting methodology, and nonprofit financial compliance is highly preferred. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing diverse funding streams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with program directors and external funders. Ability to learn new processes and adapt to evolving compliance requirements. Education & Experience A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Previous accounting or financial management experience, ideally within a non-profit environment or managing grant-funded budgets.
Additional Information Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 20 hours per week, with some flexibility.
