Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will manage various accounting functions, ensure compliance with financial standards, and support the firm's financial integrity through meticulous data entry, account reconciliation, and financial analysis. Your expertise will help maintain accurate financial records and contribute to the overall success of our organization. Duties
- Responsible for processing monthly adjusting and monthly standard journal entries
- Compiling information necessary to prepare the partner's package, financial statements, practice group reports and administration financial reporting
- Assists Director with year-end information gathering for firm tax return preparation
- Instrumental in firm budget preparation
- Tracks all in-house attorney personal work for year-end report generation
- Monitors and processes negative hard costs in wip (prolaw)
- Complies partner draw information
- Processes partner draw ACH monthly
- Tracks all past due vendor invoices and assists in the payment of vendors
- Assists with Prolaw issues and problems
- Responsible for all FWOBs (fees without bill)
- Keeps the firm legal with unclaimed property laws and requirements
- Processes unclaimed property filings
- Processes payroll
- Update and enter bi-weekly payroll general ledger adjustments in Prolaw
- Assists with accounts payable coding issues
- Assist in vendor contact cleanup
- Provide backup to accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing and quality control desk duties
- Handles special requests by attorneys & support staff
- Update reserves and prepaids at year end
- Setup reserves and prepaids at beginning of year
- Compile revenue, billings and time reports for support staff reviews
- Reviews expense sheet during month
- Field questions from accounting staff
- Review & update fixed assets depreciation accounts monthly
- Follow up on outstanding checks over 60 days old
- Run reports, research and resolve monthly negative hard costs
- Provide orientation for new accounting staff Experience
- Accounting background
- 2 -3 years' accounting experience
- Good analytical skills
- Excellent decision-making ability
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong knowledge of Excel
